Kingdom –
“Rule or dominion of the King”
1. God is the KING – the sovereign ruler over
all.
a. As such, EVERYONE and EVERYTHING is ultimately accountable to Him.
b. He ‘rules in the kingdom of men’ – Dan. 4:17, 25, 32; 5:1
c. Heaven is His throne, the earth is his footstool --- Isa. 66:1, Matt. 5:35 Acts 7:49;
2. God established a separate and special
‘kingdom’ in the OT –
a. Gave them a law / covenant –
b. Made David (and his line) to be the earthly King –
c. Made Israel to be the special subjects –
3. Because of their rebellion and rejection of
God and His laws, destroyed that rule
a. Concerning Israel and 10 tribes - Hosea 13:11
b. Concerning Judah and David’s line – Babylonian captivity --
1. No more ‘ruling or reigning in Jerusalem’ – Jer. 22:24-30
2. TILL – His whose right it is…
4. Promises of this greater King –

c. Not just ‘Israel’ – but the whole world – King of Kings! Isa. 2,

5. TIME IS FULFILLED
a. John the baptist – Matt. 3:1-2
In those days John the Baptist came preaching in the wilderness of Judea,2 and saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!”
b. Jesus – Mark 1:14-15
14 Now after John was put in prison, Jesus came to Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,15 and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.”
c. Paul – Gal. 3: 4:4, Rom 5:6; 1 Tim. 2:6
Gal. 4:4 But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law,
Rom. 5:6 For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
1 Tim. 2:6 who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time,
6. We have this greater King – he is OUR King –
He is to be the ruler of our lives – It is HIM that we serve –
a. The PROMISE – Luke 1:30-33 -
b. He IS on the THRONE – Acts 2,
c. He IS King of Kings - Rev.
d. He is LORD over all - Matt. 28:18; Eph. 1:20-22
e. His Kingdom is a SPIRITUAL KINGDOM – reigning over our SPIRITS –
1. John 18:36
36 Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here.”
2. Luke 17:20-21 –
20 Now when He was asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, He answered them and said, “The kingdom of God does not come with observation;21 “nor will they say, ‘See here!’ or ‘See there!’ For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you.”
3. Rom. 14:17 –
17 for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

Colossians 1:13
13 He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love,

6 and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

9 I, John, both your brother and companion in the tribulation and kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was on the island that is called Patmos for the word of God and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.
