The 1st Day
- Christ arose from the dead on the first day of the week - Mark 16:1-9; Luke 24:1, 13, 21, 46
- Thus, he was demonstrated to be the Son of God upon the first day of the week - Rom. 1:4
- After he arose from the dead, Christ met with the apostles often on the first day of the week - John 20:1, 19, 26
- The church of God was established on Pentecost, the first day of the week - Lev. 23:15, Acts 2:1-47
- The Holy Spirit came and began His work on that day - Acts 2:1-4
- 1st Gospel Sermon preached on this day of Pentecost - Acts 2
- About 3000 souls, the 'first fruits' of the Gospel (Lev. 23:17) were added to the church on that day - Acts 2:41, 47
- The church of the Lord met on the first day of the week to eat the Lord's Supper and to do other things - Acts 20:7; 2:42; 1 Cor. 16:1-2; 11:23-33.
- In the New Covenant we have these new things:
- ·A New Covenant - Heb. 8:13; 10:9-10.
- ·A new church - Matt. 16:18; Eph. 1:20-23.
- ·New Commandments - 1 Cor. 14:37; Mark 16:15-16
- ·A new Day - Acts 20:7; 1 Cor. 16:1-2
- ·A new Name applied to the New Day - Kuriakos - Lord's day, Rev. 1:10
