1.THE UNIVERSAL NATURE OF THE CALL OF GOD CAN NOT BE SO LIGHTLY DEALT WITH.

a.Called by the gospel - (2 Thess. 2:14) - which is for all (Mk. 16:15-16, Mt. 28:18f)

b.This is in line with the universal salvation offered by God -

ITim. 2:4-6; 1 Tim. 4:10; 2 Pet. 3:9; Rom. 5:18; Rom. 11:32; 2 Cor. 5:19; Tit. 2:11; Col. 1:20; John 3:14-17; John 6:33,51; John 7:37; Rev. 22:17; Acts 17:30; 1 Jn. 2:2; isa. 45:22, etc., etc.

2.THE WORK OF THE SPIRIT

1.to inspire and reveal the word - to apostles and prophets. Eph. 3:3-5; John 16:13-15; 14:26; 15:26

2.through THEIR word - to convict and convert - John 16:7-10

a.word = the sword of the Spirit - Eph. 6 b. word = causes faith:

Rom. 10:17; 1:16; John 20:3-31; 17:20; Acts 14:1; 11:14; 17:11-12, etc.

3.The Holy Spirit CAN be resisted - Acts 6:10; 7:51-55.

He is resisted by resisting and rejecting the Word of the Spirit - the gospel call!
