Did they have words to express instrumental music - especially singing with such? Perhaps it is not mentioned because they had not such words for it? - NO, They DID have words for such and used them - but never used them to authorize instruments in worship to God.

auletes = flute player
saloistes = trumpet players
"piped" = played the flute in Matt. 11:17
