2. KOMOS, (revelings), drinking mixed with "music" and good times. Is characterized by beer busts, Sat. night "good time" by most people, night clubs, etc.
a. lit. = drinking, without reference to amount or substance. Context here shows is alcoholic drinks! cp. Mt. 10:42.
b. TRENCH, "not of necessity excessive" Synonyms of NT., p.2l1.
c. Trench, further, that it is related to words of excess in that it gives "opportunity for excess ."
d. translated in New Eng. Bible, "tippling", that is drinking that is "continuously in small amounts .
HERE THEN IS THE PICTURE OF SOCIAL DRINKING, NOT OF NECESSITY TO EXCESS (although gives opportunity to such), DONE IN "SMALL AMOUNTS". IT TOO IS PART OF OUR PAST LIFE AND MUST BE PUT OFF.
