Judgment
(Rom. 1:5, 16; 2:8; 6:13; 16:26)
- the standard = truth, gospel, 2, 16
- everyman to be judged vs. 6
- No respect of Persons with God - 2:10-11
- Contrast with premill idea of 2 judgments, 2 resurrections, 2 chances -
- Contrast with J.W. - more than two for some.
- Everyone in the grave (contrast with J.W., )
- all appear (even Christians)
- According to bodily deed (no 2nd chance)
- No reincarnation (cp. Job 16:22; 2 Sam. 12:23 -)
- Already king - 1 Cor. 15:20-26
- Not a 'trial' - but a 'sentencing' -
- Jesus and devil not argue over you
- Jesus declares your state
- At death, destiny eternally fixed.
- Death = either paradise or hades (rest or punishment)
- Return of Christ = judgment, then either 'heaven or hell' for eternity
- Punish certain ones (know not God, obey not the gospel)
- Punishment is everlasting.
